Based on the latest measurements carried out, the telecommunications leader in Albania, One Albania is more than prepared to face this busy period, driven by the growth of local users, but also by the record number of international tourists.

Increase in the number of One network users

The touristic success that Albania is experiencing in recent years has undoubtedly been reflected in an increase in the number of One network users. A comparison of July 2023 with July 2024, is enough to show a 40% increase in data traffic.

"We have seen a significant increase in data usage, reflecting the trust and support customers have in our network during the busiest time of the year. Over 95,000 visitors have joined the One Albania network in the last two weeks alone. Our team has worked intensively to ensure that the One network not only meets, but also exceeds the expectations of local users, as well as international visitors," said Ilir Duka, Director of the Technology Group at One Albania.

Strategic network upgrades, paving the way to 5G

To cope with this rapid growth of users as well as data traffic, One Albania has strategically expanded its network coverage. In addition to providing comprehensive coverage within the Llogara tunnel, the company has significantly increased network capacity to all popular coastal destinations, to provide seamless connectivity to every corner of Albania.

In parallel with the improvements of the mobile network and the preparation of the infrastructure for the deployment of 5G technology, which will enable an increase in data speed up to 2.5 Gbps per user, One Albania has also made important steps in the modernization of the fixed network infrastructure. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) coverage has expanded, adding 30,000 households in 2024 alone.

Also, for a long time, One Albania has started the process of replacing outdated copper fiber lines, replacing them with high-speed fiber connections. So far in 2024, around 35,000 copper lines have been removed, helping the country's digital transformation.
